Who we are
DG Humana Institute (“we”) runs this site at dghumana.com. We are a 501(c)(3) scientific and educational nonprofit. This page describes what happens when you visit or contact us through the site.
What we collect
When you browse. Our web server (hosted on DigitalOcean) keeps ordinary access logs. Those logs typically include your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent string. We use them to run and secure the site.
When you email us. If you write to kerry@dghumana.com, info@dghumana.com, or another address we publish, we receive whatever you send (including your email address and message). There is no contact form on this site; contact and submissions go by email or phone.
Comments. WordPress is set to allow comments on posts. The public theme does not currently show a comment form on articles. If a comment is submitted through WordPress, the commenter’s name and comment text may be stored and shown publicly; the email address is stored by WordPress and is not shown on the site.
Measurement tools. We use StatCounter and, if you accept cookies, the Meta Pixel. Those tools collect visit data as described below.
Why we collect it
We use this information to operate the site, answer messages, understand which pages are read, and—when you accept—measure visits for outreach and improvement. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and similar technology
StatCounter. A StatCounter script loads on our pages today. It counts visits and may set cookies or use similar storage in your browser. See StatCounter’s privacy information.
Meta Pixel. After you choose Accept on our cookie notice, we load Meta’s Pixel (ID 2125196114768885), which records a PageView and may set Meta cookies. If you choose Decline, we do not load the Pixel. Your choice is stored in your browser’s localStorage under the key dgh_cookie_consent so we remember it on later visits to this site.
WordPress. If you log in to WordPress, or if a comment form is used, WordPress may set its own cookies (for example a login or comment cookie).
The full-size map viewer page uses the same cookie notice and the same Meta Pixel rules.
Third parties
Meta Platforms. When the Pixel runs, Meta receives information about your visit under Meta’s own terms. Read Meta’s Privacy Policy.
StatCounter. Visit data goes to StatCounter under their terms (link above).
DigitalOcean. The site is hosted on DigitalOcean infrastructure. Their processing of hosting data is described in DigitalOcean’s privacy policy.
Your choices
Use Accept or Decline on the cookie notice to allow or block the Meta Pixel. You can clear site data in your browser to see the notice again and choose differently. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and use browser or platform tools that limit ad tracking (including options Meta provides for ads preferences).
StatCounter is not controlled by that Accept/Decline choice on this site today. Blocking third-party scripts in your browser will stop it.
