Mission
Technologies that sort, predict, recommend, and decide now touch work, learning, health, money, and relationships. DG Humana exists to help people understand what these systems are, what they do, and what they mean for the human person, and to keep human dignity and flourishing at the center of that conversation.
Values
- 01
Human dignity
Every person has worth that cannot be reduced to a profile, a score, or a prediction.
- 02
Human flourishing
Technology should serve full human lives: thought, work, community, and growth.
- 03
Understanding
Clear explanation, honest uncertainty, and careful reasoning matter more than hype or alarm.
- 04
Open inquiry
Good-faith disagreement among people of many disciplines and backgrounds makes our thinking better.
What we do
Education. We explain technologies and the questions they raise in plain language, for students, professionals, and anyone curious.
Publishing. We publish short articles and commentaries on current events where technology and the human being meet.
A home for like-minded scholars. We welcome scholars, intellectuals, thinkers, and concerned stakeholders who want to write, read, and think together. See how to contribute.
Status
DG Humana is organized as a 501(c)(3) scientific and educational nonprofit.
Founder & Director
DG Humana was founded by Kerry Thornhill, who serves as its Founder & Director. Kerry studies how people evaluate decisions made with computational systems and has long been interested in how technology serves, or fails to serve, the human person. More about Kerry’s research is at kerrythornhill.com.
